How to Adopt

At SafeHaven Humane Society, our goal is to find permanent, loving homes for all animals entrusted in our care. Let our staff work with you to help you find the ideal dog or cat to fit your life.  We don't want these animals to experience homelessness again and we take our responsibility seriously when evaluating potential new homes. We want you to be happy with the companion you choose and we want to see each of the animals we care for go to loving homes. The whole family should be involved in the decision making process and it may require several visits to find the right friend for you.

Our shelter staff will work with you and can tell you about any special needs a dog or cat may have. To help you find an ideal animal companion, we need to get to know you: your living situation, your experience with companion animals and your expectations for assuming the responsibility for a new companion. This information will help us find the right animal for you.

When you select your new friend, we will ask you to fill out and sign an adoption agreement and application, including references. Please read our adoption agreement carefully. It is important that you understand our policies.
